Happy Earth Day!

Today, April 22nd, 2020, officially marks 50 years of celebrating Earth Day! It only makes sense for today that you begin your green efforts and bring them into your daily lifestyle. Remember, a tiny bit goes a long way when saving the earth. Don't feel you need to do a complete 360 to make an impact. Take it one step and one choice at a time.

Living an eco-friendly lifestyle is very easy to do and not expensive. Try these easy, eco-friendly lifestyle changes to help guide you in your efforts to make your lifestyle more "green" friendly.

  • Repurpose old items.

  • Make your own cleaners: Baking soda, lemons, and vinegar are a few examples of the natural cleaners that you can use.

  • Lower the thermostat setting on your water heater to save energy, and thus money.

  • Instead of plastic, use reusable items.

  • Plant a tree.

  • Start composting: Begin composting your food scraps. This will help keep waste out of landfills and helps your garden thrive in ways that even fertilizer cannot match.

  • Check for leaks. Leaks in American homes reportedly account for 1 trillion gallons of wasted water per year. If you have a leaky faucet or running toilet, fix it on Earth Day!

  • Conserve water in your yard. Collect rainwater in a barrel and use the water on your garden and lawn.

Even though Earth Day comes once a year, by doing some of these simple daily lifestyle changes today could be beneficial for you and the earth for the years to come!
